About Judy

Judy Ann Pierce enjoys writing stories that entertain and enable her readers. Reading books and writing were two of her favorite activities as a child and still are today.  The Surprising Scary Day is Judy's first book. This is a dream come true for the aspiring author. A second book is being critiqued now and will be available in 2017. Judy enjoys writing for children and each book will have a message intended to help and teach.

Her parents shared their love for animals with Judy when she was a child. As a result, she grew up with dogs, cats and horses. During her school years, she spent many days riding horses with friends.

Judy advocates kindness and compassion for everyone and for all animals.
Today she lives with her husband, Larry, and their horses, cats and Pembroke Welsh Corgis in Northern California. She practices being grateful every day for her family, friends and opportunities.

Who She Is

Judy Ann Pierce has enjoyed reading books all her life. Her parents were instrumental in her early years and showed her the wonderful people, places, and journeys waiting for her in books. As a family, they would read a book together almost every evening. Her father would read a page, her mother would read a page, and Judy would read a page. Mom and dad would help her with the words and what they meant. The family enjoyed the half-hour or hour they spent reading and over time, read many of the classics.
On Saturdays, Judy and her mom would go to their local library and check out books to read. Her enjoyment of books and writing led her to major in Journalism at California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, California. She has written magazine articles, and worked as an assistant editor for a magazine, and as a Public Information Assistant and Officer at a California Community College.
Today, she is a member of several writing clubs and a writing critique group.

Her History

Judy began riding horses when she was two years old. The family still has photos of her sitting on a big white horse with a sunbonnet on and her legs sticking out because they weren’t long enough to hang down. Her dad is standing beside her with a big smile. She spent many hours with that old, gentle gelding who was tolerant and kind. As she grew up, she took riding lessons and learned how to ride both English and western. Eventually, she showed her horses at horse shows and in cutting events. She still has two older horses and enjoys trail riding.
An advocate for all animals, she has fostered and rescued several dogs, cats, and horses. She volunteered at her local SPCA and has been a 4-H Horse Leader.
